Hall 13 Musical...

Many said it was better than last year's. I felt so too. Anyway, as it was a musical, the overall effect would should definitely be better. Other than that, most of the time, I was personally comparing it to a normal musical.

About the play...
Restrictions, restrictions, and MORE restrictions...
This was how I felt. There was alot of restrictions to their musical.

1) Microphones
I performed in a musical, at Jubilee Hall too. We never used microphones. Our director taught us that whenever we speak, we must make sure that the person at the last seat could hear us clearly. The microphones were a major turn-off at many of the scenes. And I felt that, cos they were speaking to the microphones, they are not expressing themselves well enough.. Singing without microphones wasn't impossible.. Corrine, a 14-year-old girl could do it for a few songs, 3 performances in a row, 2 consecutive nights and 1 matinee. I wonder why couldn't we have matinee session, and probably sell at a lower price, and target students or something? There's not really the.. impossible factor.. The singing probably was impossible cos the music was from a live band. Other than that, I didn't feel that speaking and talking needed microphones.

2) Costumes
Their costumes made their actions restricted. I always felt, it should be more dramatic.. Isn't it? Juliet was forever looking for the Romeo's hand, and her father's hand to grab. And think, the cape restricted many people's hand actions.. I really felt that the overall, a little bit of under-expressed.. the actions weren't that dramatic... the actions won't loud enough... Ok.. other than Ling's slaps and the director.. hehe..

The lightings?
Next, about lightings, I wasn't a pro... Probably the style was used as some sort of stage effects. I personally still prefered that spot light could be shone on the main scene, or main singer(s) when they were singing alone or duet... and the others black out, especially when there was a need to change the props. Else, it was pretty distracting..

The script
Overall, I think that the script was really well written. The layout was great.. Joo said it looked like a wedding cake, due to the layering effect. The music and the songs were so nicely written and sung. The mood was so... in love.. Feeling great.. just a pity I wasn't with anyone special.. *laffs*

Jubilee Hall..
Reminded me 7 years ago, whereby I nearly camped there for consecutive 3 to 4 nights. 9 months of preparation... So many people involved.. I actually wanted to give up in the first place, cos I didn't felt my importance. I was like.. Hmm.. Throughout the first few weeks of elimination, many people got eliminated. I wasn't. I wasn't great, nor good. I always thought that Wendy, my director, didn't eliminate me, just because she didn't know my name. I still think that way. Never had a chance to clear my doubts. Anyway, I was glad that Mrs. Thevathasam talked to me, and made me stay. Else my stay in SJC wouldn't have been more memorable.

Shall Hall Production be discontinued?
Weird that I wasn't involved in acting ever since. I wasn't involved in Hall Production at all. But I always supported such stuff. Over the supper at Jalan Besar, I heard from Ling, that Hall Production wouldn't be continued if the points system would be scraped. What the...? Since when the people who participated Hall Production, participated for the sake of points? Most of the people who participated, participated for the passion... participated just in hope of making it happen and making it a success. Yes. Probably fundings were a problem. But... of all things, scrape Hall Production? What the...? Anyway, from the 1st Production till the 3rd Production this year, the current Mr. President were never agreeable, or never felt the production was worth doing. It would be something that will definitely get the Dean of Student's support, since she's sooo into cultural stuffs. It MUST continue. Anyway, all the old people, meaning the graduates, to come back and support. It really means something to all of us.. It no longer only just a simple play. It was something we could see every year, and something to get back in touch with the current Hall 13 residents. It MUST continue...
