Puzzled by the NewPaper..

This is what the NewPaper said about Good Friday.

I'm confused. At first they said, Christians this and this, Christians that and that.. Then towards the later half of the story, they said Catholic churches have this and this for celebrations and what not.. Making it sound like Christians go Catholic churches..? Or am I just ignorant?! I'm confused! By the way, here's what the article says...

Singapore prays.. and plays
- Several religious groups observe special days this week

Day of mourning for Christians
By Shree Ann Mathavan

For Christians, it is a time of tragedy and triumph. It marks the horrendous suffering and death of Jesus and his message of hope for a new beginning.

Food Friday, which falls tomorrow, has been a public holiday in Singapore for years.

And for Christians it means a lot more than haing a day off from work or school.

It is a day of sadness because it commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus, but it also carries the optimistic message of resurrection, marked two days later on Easter Sunday.

Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead, and thus defeated death itself.

Said Rev Michael Arro, 75, a parish priest at the Church of St Teresa:"Good Friday, from a human point of view, is a tragedy. But at the same time it is the beginning of triumph because in dying, Jesus revealed the power of resurrection and life."

Preparation for Good Friday traditionally takes 40 days, a period known as Lent, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday.

Rev Arro explainted that preparations for believers usually involve prayer (to reflect), fasting (to free onself from the need of material things) and alms giving (to share with others).

Most Catholic churches have stations of the cross every Friday during this period. This is a form of prayer which recounts the key stages in the suffering of Jesus.

The last three days, starting from the evening of Holy Thursday, are particularly important.

Holy Thursday marks the last supper that Jesus shared with his disciples. In some other churches, the faithful confess and receive holy communion on that day.

On Good Friday, many churches have a re-enactment of the crucifixion, and some, like the St Joseph's Church, have a procession.

Holy Saturday is usually a day of reflection, before Easter celebrations.

Some churches throw Easter parties for families, with food and games for everyone.

This is only 1 part of the article..
There's a few other parts, but on other religion and their own celebrations this week.

Well.. You might think I'm crazy to type everything out.
It's just copying it.
Typing is no kick for me..
Don't get bored by this entry.
I'm really confused.
Or maybe I'm just stupid.
Argh!
