Happening Week [16-Jun to 20-Jun]

A happening week at work..
Cos we have clients flying in from New Zealand and States..
Poor boss is super busy at entertaining..
Cos both groups of clients are his good friends...
Thankfully, the NZs were here for a week...
And we only meet up the American for a lunch..


16 Jun 2008, Monday

Monday, he asked me to go for lunch together with the NZs...
Lijiao, our new colleague of 2 months, had to go too cos she's handling their program..
Haha.. I'm just a tagged along.. Cos my boss owed me 2 lunches.
On the way...
Then I realised he's bringing us to the Carnivore at Vivocity..
I wanted to tell him..
IT'S MY THIRD TIME GOING THERE WITHIN THE PAST 3 MONTHS!!
And yes.. All the 3 times are with HIM!!
I really don't understand why he liked the food so much..
I totally feel disgusted by meat after eating there..

But nevertheless..
At the end of the lunch, my boss ended owing me one more lunch instead..
Actually, none of us knew what happened.
In the middle of the conversation at the end of lunch..
Us enjoying our drinks and coffee..
My boss probably attempted to shift his glass of coke to the side..
But it slipped through his fingers.. and the coke came gushing to the other end of the table..
Yes.. I'm on the other end of the table..
And it came gushing onto me!
Thank goodness, I was wearing my Nike jacket.. waterproof some more...
Else my top will be drenched with coke too!
Lucky I wasn't wearing my Adidas jacket lor..

Yeap.. Everyone burst into laughters.. including me..
That's cos I didn't get too much of a mess out of this..
I was laughing at how stunned and silly my boss looked..
And finally he did something stupid..

Boss: "Do you need to go home and shower?"
Me: "Erh.. Then how am I going back all the way to Tuas after that?!"
The conversation ended with a laugh..
And left me thinking.. Why am I so stupid?
It's such a good chance to take time off, when I'm already in Vivo!!
OK lah.. I'm really workaholic...

The client from states came down yesterday.. Our sales executive brought him down to the Malaysia plant to have a look. And.. It's my first time announcing my US trip.. I felt surprised looks around me, especially from the younger ones..
Talking to this client.. Woah.. He's like so prepared to bring me mountain climbing.. I told him that he have to made sure the expedition gotta be worthwhile lor.. My boss bought me a Nokia E51. Slim phone, in my opinion, looks like a remote control.. It's like my third phone from this company within a year.
First was 6111.. And I complained about the screen.. Cos it's like a concave surface, making me nauseous looking at it for too long... Then it was 6070, an uncle phone... but I'm comfy with.. Given to me cos boss didn't wanted to let the China girl to use a brand new phone.. The way he gave E51 to me was rather funny.. Monday he walked over, and looked at my phone. Then, he looked at the calendar in front of me...
And he asked... "Your birthday in November right?" "Aiya.. too early for birthday present..." Me: "Huh?!"
Boss: "Oh.. I bought a new phone, and wanted to give it to you as a present." Me: "Haha.. You can give it to me as a one-year-anniversary in this company?!" And both of us broke into laughters.. as he walked back to his seat.
Tuesday, discretely, he put the phone, the extra battery, and the charger in a small envelope.. And passed to me.. In a way, I thought it was funny.. In another, I felt kinda troubled. Isn't it good to be in your boss' good books? I will just be disturbed, when it's becoming too good..
Wednesday, I stayed behind for a while, waiting for dear to fetch me..
I went over to asked boss for instruction manual and most importantly, the earpiece..
Wah lau.. He say I ma fan lor..
I wanted to say that he was the ma fan one lor..
Why not just give me the whole box?!
Oh well..

Till now, I have not used the phone, cos I didn't wanted to show as if I'm so gian4 beng3..
Like so desperate for the new phone..
And seems like the thought of wanting to get myself an i-phone over in US is a full-stop for now.
Yes. I WANTED AN I-PHONE!

Tuesday evening, dear came to pick me up from work..
And we started our jogging routine again..
It's been a long time since we last jogged..
Just 2.4km run in SRC's track.. It's tiring enough..


18-Jun-08, Wednesday

Wasn't too special..
My boss took Li Li for lunch..
And brought back a cake from Conrad..
I supposed they went for the Golden Phoeny restaurant there..
I went once.. So classy..
It's another fine dining place, where noise level was superb minimal.
I had to bring out my gentle, feminine side of me then..

And here's a photo of the cake..
It's a $60+ cake..
No refrigeration required.
The first layer is like a thick chocolate truffle... Bittersweet.. Nice.
The next later is crunchy..
It's like the centre of a rocher...
Just that this layer is much more concentrated with the crunch and sweetness..


The ride home was torturous.
Wasn't at all a pleasant ride...
If I knew he's gonna be so late.. I probably would have made my way home first..
Well...
It was a disturbed driver.. Feeling pissed by the tremendous jam on PIE..
And back of the mind thinking of how much fuel has he burnt..
Thankfully the dinner at my place, and my nephew made up for the lousy evening ride..

Went over to Shangrila to fetch the US client..
Seemed like no place to park the car..
So I alighted to find Eldon in the lobby myself..
I was so afraid I couldn't recognise him..

A boyish looking 51-year-old, wearing his shades, waiting in the lobby..
Sounds charming, huh?! hehe..
Knowing he doesn't like too talkative people..
I took a different approach..
Just be less talkative, and talk only when there's good topics..
And I can be more relax, and no need for me to kept generating topics..


Lunch was at Paragon's Crystal Jade at Level 5.
It opens at 11.30am.
We are early by 5 min..
